摘要
The child and juvenile obesity are considered a major public health challenge due of its rapid global growth. Because it is a chronic disease of multifactorial cause, involves genetic, physiological, environmental, and psychological aspects, with possible implications on mental health, directly affecting the quality of life of affected individuals. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the association of health-related quality of life in overweight adolescents with demographic and economic aspects, lifestyle and nutritional status was evaluated. A cross-sectional study was carried out with 100 adolescents aged 10 to 16 years, 11 months, and 29 days from two municipal public elementary schools, located in the city of Campina Grande, PB. The quality of life was analyzed, through the Kidscreen-52, demographic and economic variables (age, sex, skin color and economic class), the level of physical activity, screen time and nutritional status. It was observed that girls presented worse quality of life in general and in several domains. The non-white skin color was associated with teasing/bullying (p=0.002). Overweight and irregularly active/sedentary adolescents presented higher frequencies of low quality of life for the family environment (p=0.039) and health and physical activity domains (p=0.012), respectively. Given the above, it is concluded that gender, skin color, BMI, and physical activity level influence HRQoL of overweight adolescents.
