摘要：

This article presents the essential elements and principles of supportive therapies for the horse with acute laminitis. The pertinent anatomy and function of the normal foot are reviewed, as is the pathophysiology of the acute phase of the disease. The underlying principles and practical application of techniques necessary to limiting further digital damage via removal of the inciting cause, mechanical support, trimming, and reduction of edema are presented and discussed.
