摘要
Our understanding of the source regions of the fast solar wind in polar coronal holes has been dramatically enhanced since the launch of SOHO. However, still more remains to be done and possible observations by the Solar Orbiter (SO) will hopefully provide much more insight. We present results of a SOHO/eclipse study in an interplume inside a Polar Coronal Hole (PCH). They concern the determination of the radial flow velocity of the solar wind in this region at the base of the corona. We discuss the implications of our result in terms of the genuine source regions of the fast solar wind in polar coronal holes. We outline possible polar coronal hole observations to be conducted by foreseeable instrumentation on-board the SO.
