Intelligence and developmental scales in German-speaking countries

This paper provides a history of intelligence assessment and developmental assessment, beginning with its precursors in the work of Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon. It is shown that recent intelligence tests. as well its recent developmental assessment tools. have their initial roots in the tradition of Binet and Simon. Furthermore. we survey recent intelligence and developmental assessment in German-speaking countries. The tests are evaluated as regards the content and their statistical properties. Results are discussed as they pertain to the application of developmental a assessment in psychological practice.
