The correlation between the concentration of selenium in the blood plasma of the women in labour with IUGR (Intrauterine growth retardation) and the newborns (Cord blood) and the flow parameters in the fetal-uteroplacental unit before the delivery (Doppler method)

22 women with PIH and their 22 newborns, who were born after the 37(th) week of pregnancy, were examined. For parameters of the hypotrophia one accepted newborns, which were born with weight of body below 10-th centiles for given week of the pregnancy. The respective control group was composed of healthy women in labour and their newborns. The concentration of selenium in the blood plasma of the women in labour and in the cord blood in respective groups was determined. At the same time, before the delivery, the flow parameters in the fetal-uteroplacental unit in the IUGR group and healthy group were determined.
