摘要
In consideration of the non-uniformity of composites the classical single-shear-plane metal cutting mode and shear angle formulas are not thought to be suitable for analyzing the cubing process of SiC particles reinforced aluminum matrix composites, but there is no any ideal cutting mode established on pure analytical mechanics for this kind of material so far. Experiments indicated that the chip deformation coefficient of SIC particle reinforced composites decreased and the shear angle increased in comparison with the normal matrix aluminum alloy. There is an obvious difference between the both cutting processes of coarse particles reinforced composites and fine particles reinforced composites, in the latter continuous chip forms mainly, and in the former not only continuous chip but also debris are found. The two cuffing process modes are put forward in this paper.
