An approach to pattern recognition for quality control of fruits using machine vision

摘要
A method for pattern recognition for quality control of fruits is presented. The necessary information for bruise detection is obtained using the near infrared region of the spectrum. Images of apples were recorded with the aid of a machine vision system at chosen wavelengths: 800 nn, 825 nm and 1000 nm. Clusters of normal and defect apples were formed after preprocessing of received images. The clusters of images were processed using the method of linear discriminate analysis and three discriminant functions have been obtained. The theoretical and experimental accuracy of each function were evaluated.
