摘要：
The article reviews current prevalence of substance use among adolescents, theoretical constructs to explain engagement in risk behaviors, and risk and protective factors for substance use. The information provided here can help clinicians understand the use of clinical tools to guide screening and assessment of adolescents. Knowledge of these areas is critical in primary prevention as well as the development of treatment plans.
