Photoluminescence properties and energy transfer of novel red phosphor Sr3P4O13:Eu3+, Bi3+

摘要
Novel Sr3P4O13:Eu3+, Bi3+ red phosphor is synthesized by a solid-state reaction method in air, and the crystal structures, fluorescence lifetimes and luminescence properties are investigated. The PLE band peaking at 394 nm due to F-7(0) -> L-5(6) transition indicates that the phosphor can be effectively excited by near-UV InGaN chip, and five PL bands within the range 570-770 nm are attributed to D-5(0) -> F-7(J) (J = 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) transitions of Eu3+ ion, respectively. The optimal Bi3+ doping concentration is similar to 5 mol%. PL intensity of Sr3P4O13:0.04Eu(3+) phosphor can be enhanced similar to 7 times by codoping Bi3+ ion due to the energy transfer between Eu3+ and Bi3+ ions. The luminous mechanism and energy transfer process are explained by energy level diagrams of Bi3+ and Eu3+ ions. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
