摘要：

During the course of a systematic search for low surface brightness Milky Way satellite galaxies we have discovered a previously unidentified stellar overdensity in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. This overdensity has all the hallmarks of an extremely faint, Dwarf Spheroidal companion which we designate Bootes II. The object; is consistent with an old (similar to 12 Cyr) metal-poor ([Fe/H] similar or equal to -2.0) population at a, distance modulus (m - M) 18.9 +/- 0.5 mag. We estimate a total magnitude for Bootes II of M-V similar to -3.1 +/- 1.1 mag and a half-light radius of r(h) similar to 72 +/- 28 pc.
