摘要
High precise reconstruction of hole contour from point cloud is the important step in reverse engineering of sheet metal body parts. High density of point cloud will help improve the accuracy of hole contour reconstruction. But the limits of hardware and data handling capacity prevent the increasing of point cloud density. For the auto-body or large body parts, the point cloud density is limited to a low level. This paper discusses the possibility of high precise reconstruction of hole contour from low density point cloud, and confirms that there are enough points with high possibility on the location very close to the border if the hole size is far larger than average spacing of point cloud. Using those precise points, the high accuracy reconstruction can be done, this paper presents the general method of optimization-based reconstruction for circle hole and other shaped holes.
