A fiber laser resonantly pumped 1617 nm Er:YAG laser is reported. A bow-tie ring resonator configuration was employed for the Er:YAG laser to operate at 1617 nm. The laser yields 2.38 W at 1617 nm output for an incident pump power of 12.11 W, with a slope efficiency of 30%.
