Performance evaluation of channel reservation protocol in WDM single-hop networks for long transmission distance or high bit-rate

摘要
In a WDM single-hop star network, a dynamic scheduling protocol to transmit variable-sized messages efficiently without any global information has been proposed. In the protocol, the transmission performance, is degraded under the condition of longer transmission distance or higher bit-rate. Then we propose a protocol to improve the performance under the above condition and compare the performance of the proposed protocol with that of the conventional one by computer simulations. As the results, the performance based on the proposed protocol keeps more than about 30% throughput even at 500m for 10 Gbit/s.
