摘要
Third-harmonic generation in nanoporous boron silicate glass is studied using picosecond pulses of Nd:YAG-laser radiation. Effective-medium approximation with Bruggeman-type effective dielectric constant is shown to provide an adequate description of the main tendencies of this process and to offer strategies to control third-harmonic generation. The efficiency of third-harmonic generation in lamellar-inhomogeneous porous glass is shown to be sensitive to the polarization of pump radiation. The potential of third-harmonic generation as a longitudinal and transverse scan for probing spatial inhomogeneities in transparent nanoporous and nanocomposite materials is discussed.
