THF-solvated KC5Me5 and KC5Me4SiMe2CH2CH=CH2 complexes crystallize with extended structures that provide information on bent metallocenes containing potassium. [(mu-C5R5)K(mu-C5R5)](-). The substructures of [(THF)K(mu-C5Me5)](n). [(THF)(2)K(mu-C5Me5)](n), and [(THF)K(mu-C5Me4-SiMe2CH2CH=CH2)](n) display (mu-C5R5)K(mu-C5R5) angles of 137.9-143.7degrees. The olefin substituent in [(THF)K(mu-C5Me4SiMe2CH2CH=CH2)](n) approaches potassium with K...C distances of 3.58 and 4.20 Angstrom. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.. All rights reserved.
