Microdomain Arrays Fabricated in Strontium-Barium Niobate Crystals by Microscopic Methods

摘要
We report on the fabrication of the microscale domains and specified microdomain arrays in strontium-barium niobate SrxBa1-xNb2O6 single crystals by application of dc-voltages to an atomic force microscope (AFM) tip and by electron-beam irradiation. The written structures were examined by piezoelectric force microscopy (PFM) method. The domains and domain gratings with periods ranged from 2 to 4 mu m were fabricated using AFM on both polar and nonpolar crystal surfaces. The shallow domain gratings on the polar surface were examined by the nonlinear diffraction technique. The observed diffraction patterns of Raman-Nath type exhibited a pronounced contrast.
