摘要
In this paper, the removal of latency of individual TMP fibres has been studied using optical microscopy. Individual curled fibres, selected from a 45% consistency suspension, were fastened at one end and then moistened using water at different temperatures. The deflection of fibres under the influence of the heat and water absorption was measured as a function of time. We find that fibre deflection occurs from the forces created through swelling created through water imbibition as well as the thermal stresses. We find that for all conditions tested, fibre straightening occurs over approximately 1 second.
