摘要：
Steel is the most important material of the present. The growing steel demand originated an impulse of innovation in process development and plant design. Caused by demands of steel consumers for improved material properties as well as by economic reasons the RH vacuum process was developed; in 1958 it was applied for the first time at the steelmaking shop of the Hattinger Henrichshutte and thereafter become one of the most important processes of the secondary metallurgy up to now more than 200 plants have been built applying the RH-principle worldwide.
