摘要
The authors presented an experimental finding in a previous paper that the simple and compound meandering flows in compound meandering channels occurred due to differences in the relative depth under the given sinuosity. But it is necessary to prove that two types of flows can also occur in actual rivers having a diverse of geometry and flood hydrograph. The purpose of this paper is to determine a criterion discriminating the occurrence of simple and compound meandering flows using data such as surface flow velocity distribution taken during flooding, and water level time curves measured at observation stations. The diagram of relationship between surface flow velocity distribution, relative depth Dr, and sinuosity S showed the condition under which compound meandering flow and simple meandering flow occur.
