Changes in Students' Sexual Behavior: 1966-1981-1996-2012

In the years 1966, 1981, 1996 and 2012, a total of 10,723 students from 12 to 15 universities were asked about their behavior regarding sexuality and relationships via mail questionnaires. The article presents the significant findings in a longitudinal way. The comparison of the four samples demonstrates that fundamental changes in sexual behavior occurred the end of the 1960 s and early 1970 s, at the time of the so called, sexual revolution". Since then - despite the current public discourse of, sexual degeneration" in Germany - very little has changed. Notable exceptions are, the consumption of internet pornografy, and experiences with unusual sexual practices: These have increased, at least with a view to lifetime prevalence, and suggest that students in the year 2012 are more focused on sexual experiences compared to earlier generations.
