The family Asilidae Leach 1819, is represented in the Neotropical region, by 181 genera and 761 species, belonging to 9 subfamilies: Asilinae, Dasypogoninae, Laphriinae, Laphystiinae, Leptogastrinae, Ommatiinae, Stenopogoninae, y Trigonomiminae. For Argentina, 44 genera and 108 valid species, included in 7 of the subfamilies, are known. Ommatiinae and Trigonomiminae are not recorded for this country. The known distribution of the family Asilidae in Argentina extends from Jujuy (22 degrees South Latitude) to Santa Cruz (52 degrees South Latitude). In this paper, a key for the asilid genera of Argentina is presented; 165 figures are incluided in the text. A classification in subfamilies and tribe is added. A catalogue of species, with indications for type, type deposit, and geographical distribution is incluided.
