CHANGES IN ECONOMIC STRUCTURE AND THEIR IMPACT ON SOCIOECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL REGIONS

There are a large number of indicators used to evaluate economic and social development of regions. The objective of the paper is to identify and assess changes in the economic structure in rural regions of the Trencin Region and their impact on socioeconomic development. We have analyzed the changes in economic structure of the rural regions in the Trencin Region through the indicators of sectoral employment development and the development of number of businesses. Our analysis was focused on the period of five years, from 2014 to 2018. We present the impact of the changes on the economic structure and the business base of the Trencin Region through four basic indicators characterizing the economic and social development - the number of the unemployed, the unemployment rate, the average monthly salary, and GDP in total and per capita. To process the information database and evaluate the changes in economic development of the rural regions, we have applied a method of developmental trends over time that we have used for assessing development of the set indicators and which allowed us to determine the changes occurring in the region during the period considered.
