An overview of some of the basic considerations of multimedia courseware development and use is presented. This includes descriptions of the common types of digital media and their formats. Methods of courseware distribution are also discussed, with emphasis on dissemination via the Internet. The material presented will be of interest to educators considering the incorporation of information technology into their classroom lectures and to those who wish to create courseware for distance learning purposes.
