摘要
Copper slags from four USA copper smelters were treated by high temperature techniques to recover pollution causing elements: arsenic, antimony and bismuth along with copper in alloy phase. The recovery was investigated for the conditions of varying amounts of C and CaO additions, effect of time and temperature in the range of 1473 To 1573K. The recovery of Cu, Bi As and Sb increased with increasing the reduction time, amount of Carbon and CaO additions and temperature. Recoveries of antimony and arsenic are strongly dependent on their initial concentrations in the slag Recoveries increased with increase in initial element concentration in the slag. Higher recoveries of antimony were obtained with carbothermic reduction of slags.
