Study on Prospects of Building Life-cycle Management in China

Building life cycle management (BLCM) is a worldwide rapidly developing environmental management technique used to identify and evaluate the environmental impacts of buildings from cradle to grave. The approach provides building industry with a method to make environmental judgments and direct its efforts to achieve the properly maximum development. However, relevant research in China has not been fully aroused and a clear direction is indispensable for BLCM's future development. Firstly, the paper provides a well-round illustration of BLCM, and then summarizes existing progress of BLCM in the world, finally, a set of suggestions has been put forward which, hopefully, could become a useful development guide.
