摘要
Based on the increasing use of coated materials in numerous applications the interest in methods to determine mechanical film properties like elastic modulus and fracture toughness has increased in the last years. The aim of this study is to show the potential of a mathematical approach which solves the problem of a Hertzian stress distribution in a coated half-space. In addition, results for the displacement and stress distribution of coating-substrate-compounds will be given and discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
