Analysis of nucleotide combinations in different types of the human mitochondrial DNA control region

Nucleotide combinations of polymorphic sites of Be mirochondbial DNA (mtDNA) control region were analyzed in human populations of different ethnic origin. It was demonstrated that the combination of C and T at positions 16 126 and 16294, respectively, of the mtDNA control region was specific for Caucasoids, In Eastern Slavic mtDNA types, this combination of nucleotides was associated with nucleotide substitutions G-A at position 14 905 of the cytochrome b gene and T-C at position 16 519 of the control region. Results of phylogenetic analysis of the types of mtDNA control region were used to estimate the evolutionary position of Eastern Slavs Caucasoid populations.
