摘要
A good user interface is a necessity for the success of knowledge-based expert systems. Issues such as user requirements, user model and system model have been given insufficient attention in the development of the majority of many such systems, particularly those for design applications. This paper discusses the requirements, the benefits and the problems of building user interfaces for knowledge-based expert systems. The notions of a user model and system model are discussed and their impact on the success of user interfaces considered. The paper concludes with a description of the user interface developed for a knowledge-based design tool for preliminary seismic design of reinforced concrete buildings.
