Mechanical dissipation behavior of partial melt (Tl0.5Pb0.5)(BaxSr1-x)(2)Ca2Cu3Oy (x=0.1, 0.2) superconductors

Mechanical dissipation and modulus (resonance frequency) measurements have been performed with the vibrating-reed technique on partially melted (Tl0.5Pb0.5)(BaxSr1-x)(2)Ca2Cu3Oy(x = 0.1, 0.2) (denoted by TP-1, TP-4, TP-6, Tp-7, TP-16) samples which were synthesized by different processes. Microstructures of the samples were investigated by means of SEM. Together with magnetization measurements, the mechanical property results show that the flux pinning in sample TP-1 is stronger than that of other samples. The effects of synthesis process and Ba vacancy on flux pinning were obtained, and the. probable reasons were analyzed in detail.
