摘要
GIS and the information technologies evolve rapidly providing new tools for visitors and tourism administrators to plan the trips, market and manage the destinations. Information technologies applied in tourism service widely in today's China, while few people know exactly what kind of information should be provide to the visitors. The paper summarizes that information about tourism attractions, geography, transportation, social service and lodging are the information needed by visitors based on questionnaire method. GIS combined with other information technologies can take users more continence to search tourism information. Two kinds of mode of GIS application in tourism service are presented in this paper. TIS can provide tourism information for users to search information and plan the trips based on GIS and internet, and VTS can provide users a remote simulating tour experience to help the users to make decision.
