A local potential cluster model describing Ba-140 as Xe-136 + alpha and Ba-146 as Sn-132 + C-14 provides a good account of the energies and electromagnetic properties of the lowest bands of these two nuclei. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
