Cesium-ion selective electrode based on pyrone compound

摘要
New synthetic Cs+ selective carrier, derivative of gamma-pyrone, has been used as ionophore in liquid membrane electrode. The sensor exhibits a Nernstian response (57.7 mV per decade at 298 K) for Cs+ ions over a wide concentration range (1 x 10(-1) -3 x 10(-5) M) with detection limit of 3 x 10(-5) M. It has a relatively fast response time (t(90%) = 17s, t(ImV) = 46 s) and can be used for at least 75 days without any considerable divergence in potentials. The selectivity coefficients for cesium with respect to alkali, alkaline earth, hydrogen, ammonium and transition metal ions were determined by separate solution method. In order to study the dynamic response behaviour of membrane electrode based on neutral-carrier, the variation of potential response of cesium selective electrode with time was recorded and the agreement of experimental results with many physical models, for mechanism of transient, was investigated.
