摘要
There are generally several issues in the fabrication of SSFLC panels using a plastic film, like difficulties in achieving a good bistability characteristic and maintaining a uniform cell gap. In order to solve these problems, we have optimized a chiral pitch of our FLC mixture through varying the concentration of a chiral dopant and alignment condition of polyimide film, as well as improving the cell gap uniformity of our flexible FLC display with adopting patterned photo spacers. Finally we have successfully fabricated a 4x4 dot matrix-type SSFLC panel with a plastic film substrate, which can be a potential candidate for the use of mobile applications due to its excellent mechanical properties like thin, flexible and lightweight as well as such good optical performances as fast response time, wide viewing angle and high contrast ratio.
