摘要
Comparison of rabbit rib bone regeneration performance implanted mineralized collagen with and without periosteum were reported in this article. The present study was performed in the operated defect of the 8th rabbit rib defect repaired implanted mineralized collagen (MC) about periosteum by using eight 4-month-old male New Zealand rabbits. The animals were underwent X-ray examinations at 4, 8 and 12 weeks after operation. They were sacrificed at the 12th week postoperatively, and the specimens were evaluated by histological and massion examinations. Results indicated that a higher bone remodeling activity and better bone quality were observed in the group repaired implanted MC graft with periosteum than that group without. These results showed the periosteum played a regenerative role in repairing large segmental defects and evaluates the potential applications of bone substitute materials in rib defect regeneration.
