Molybdenum disilicide oxidation protective coating for silicon carbide heating element at high-temperature condition

摘要
A dense MoSi2 coating with good oxidation resistance has been developed by using the process of self-sintering powder on the surface of SiC heating element. The oxidation test or the coating was conducted under an oxidizing atmosphere condition at 1500 degrees C for 118 h with 32 thermal cycles. The coating exhibited excellent oxidation resistance and thermal shock resistance, and the oxidation resistance of SiC heating element could be increased at high temperature with increasing of the thickness Of MoSi2 coating. Microstructure analysis showed that MoSi2 powders were sintered to be a compact coating.
