An overview is given on the use of nitrogen NMR spectroscopy to study metal nitrosyls and related compounds. Topics discussed include the preparation of 15N-enriched metal nitrosyls, patterns of nitrogen shifts in metal nitrosyls and related compounds, nitrogen shielding tensors in linear nitrosyls and related compounds, theoretical studies of nitrogen shielding tensors in metal nitrosyls and related compounds, patterns of spin-spin couplings in nitrosyls and related compounds, and dynamic processes observed in nitrogen resonance.
