Research on college English learning community has gone many years. Due to various constraints, the effects of it come out unsatisfactory. The traditional way of college English teaching, teacher-centered teaching, still prevails in the college English classes. In this paper, the author analyses three reasons for the failure of previous research: too large coverage of participants, difficult management and insufficient guidance. From the perspective of traditional in-classroom college English teaching, this paper proposes the idea of constructing college English learning community based on the face-to-face classroom teaching. Plus, this paper also states the concrete application of this learning model. It is hoped that some enlightenment can be given to the current college English teaching reform.
