What do we talk about when we communicate about linguistics as a science? Analysis of a corpus of science communication texts and applications to the terminological study of lexical semantics

In this paper we describe the compilation and analysis of a corpus of digital texts conformed by science communication articles written by linguists that discuss linguistic topics and that have been published in digital newspapers or digital magazines. The aims are twofold: on the one hand, to observe what aspects of linguistic work and research linguists are conveying to society in the informative texts that appear in the online press, and, on the other hand, to analyze the presence of terms related to lexical semantics in this corpus, which allows us to establish for them a terminological status specific to science communication and to include, in the terminographic work, examples of the use of these terms in science communication contexts. We do this within the framework provided by the projects on semantic terminology and terminological databases that are being developed at the Instituto Universitario de Investigacion en Linguistica Aplicada of the University of Cadiz.
