A highly diastereo- and enantioselective entry to higher order ketopolyols, employing boron-mediated aldol reactions of a chiral dihydroxyacetone equivalent, is reported. The differentially protected products should prove as useful building blocks for poly-hydroxylated natural product synthesis.
