A front tracking method is developed for the n x n symmetric Keyfitz-Kranzer system and convergence of the approximations to the strong generalized entropy solution of the system as defined by Panov [E.Y. Panov, On the theory of generalized entropy solutions of the Cauchy problem for a class of nonstrictly hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, Sb. Math. 191 (2000) 121-150] is proved. We also present numerical examples and compare the front tracking approximation with the approximations computed by two finite difference upwind schemes. (c) 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
