"To Moscow with love": A reconstruction of LS Vygotsky's journey to London

The article discusses. L.S. Vygotsky's sole journey abroad which took place in the summer of 1925. L.S. Vygotsky's personal diary found in the family archive and analyzed by the authors allows a partial reconstruction of L.S. Vygotsky's stay in London throwing light on his mental state on the eve of dramatic events in his life (the illness of the end of 1925 and the beginning of 1926, formulation of the basic tenets of the cultural historical approach). Analysis of the materials connected with the journey suggests a conclusion that L.S. Vygotsky did not present a paper at the London congress, nor did he take an active part in the congress proceedings. However, his journey to Europe was an important event which allowed him access "to the principal life currents".
