EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION: Beyond formalities

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is a new institution, claiming to be the most advanced example of regional economic integration among formerly Soviet countries. Apart from the question of formal integration, how to assess actual economic integration in the EAEU? What are the main hindrances to the integration process? The EAEU's very structure, along with the institutional characteristics of member states, strongly limits regional economic integration. Given these limitations, the momentum toward region integration has come to a halt and cannot advance much in the future
