This paper elucidates the consolidation characteristics of a bulking waste activated sludge. The basic properties of the sludge, including size distribution and zeta potential, were examined. A cationic polymer was used as the conditioner. The expression behavior of sludge as affected by the dose of the conditioner was investigated. The results show that the sludge could be dewatered successfully. A theoretical expression model was also discussed.
