摘要
This paper studied the government's role in stimulating innovation by a comparison of strategies in Australia and China. Australia and China see their involvement in science, technology, and commercialisation as important. For both, systems to influence the priorities in research, to shape and influence development, and to encourage commercial exploitation of ideas are important. However, the focus of this paper is to examine how each of the two countries resolves the dilemma of balancing the competing needs for direction and support.
