摘要
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD) IS A DISEASE CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH SMOKING THAT HAS A NOTICEABLE PHYSIOLOGICAL IMPACT ON THE INDIVIDUAL SUFFERING FROM IT. COPD CAUSES CHANGES TO MARKERS OF INFLAMMATION, THE LUNGS, RESPIRATORY MUSCLES, PERIPHERAL MUSCLES, AND ACTIVITY LEVELS. THIS DISEASE ALSO IMPACTS AN INDIVIDUAL'S ABILITY TO EXERCISE. THIS ARTICLE WILL REVIEW THE CHANGES CAUSED BY COPD, ITS IMPACT ON EXERCISE, AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EXERCISE ON THIS POPULATION AND WILL PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROFESSIONAL.
