摘要：

This paper presents the method followed for the production of the engineering geological map of Rethymnon, a town in North Grete, and the creation of a preliminary geotechnical file of the town, including any relevant archival and field information. The aspects considered were 1:5000 engineering geological mapping with separation of the geological formations into nine lithophasic units, bedrock determination and geotechnical consideration, and the discontinuities status of the rock formations.
