摘要
After the end of the First World War, wages in the sugar industry were adjusted to a high price level in order to prevent strikes. Later on, as a result of deflation, wages were sharply reduced. Such a sharp reduction had never been repeated due to the strike in October 1926. Even in the days of the Great Depression, wages in the sugar industry were unhealthily high, which reflected in an increased number of dismissals and in production constraints.
