Influence of FACTS on power system voltage stability

摘要
One of the major causes of voltage collapse is the reactive power limit of the system. Improving the system's reactive power handling capacity via Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices is a remedy for prevention of voltage instability and hence voltage collapse. This paper discusses the influence of a multilevel STATCOM employed in an EMTDC simulation network and its associated mathematical model. The paper then discusses the effects of STATCOM on some of the network's online voltage collapse indices.
