摘要
Many researches show that animal welfare is closely connected with public health. However, animal welfare is still largely ignored in China. In this paper, the author firstly analyzes the concept and nature of animal welfare, and then discusses the current status of animal welfare and epidemics in Chinese farms, e.g. animals are usually losing their freedom movement in modern animal breeding enterprises, they are being forced to grow abnormally in providing more animal products, thus, they are easy to get sick in such poor and polluted breeding environment. This paper may contribute to raise the awareness of animal welfare protection and improve animal health as well as public health. With the improvement of animal welfare, the sustainable development of the Chinese animal breeding industry may be achieved.
