Synthesis and nanostructure of boron nitride nanotubes, grown from iron-evaporated boron

摘要
Boron nitride (BN) nanotubes were synthesized by annealing an iron thin film evaporated on boron pellets at 1000 degrees C in nitrogen gas atmosphere. The growth mechanism and atomic structures of the BN nanotubes were investigated by high-resolution electron microscopy. Diameters of BN nanotubes are in the range of 10-20 nm, and the nanotubes have a zigzag-type structure. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
